This page is a general reference to the body, glass, seats and cargo areas of the BYD SEALION 7, a pure electric SUV sold in Australia. It lists the features named in the official brochure, explains what owners can sensibly observe and record, and says when to hand a problem to an authorised BYD dealer. It is an independent guide, so confirm every detail in the official owner’s manual and against the manufacturer specifications.
Not every item is fitted to every variant. The brochure separates the Premium and Performance variants, and BYD may change equipment, so ask an authorised BYD dealer what applies to a specific vehicle.

Glass and panoramic roof
The SEALION 7 has a panoramic glass roof with an electronic sunshade. The brochure also lists soundproof double glazed glass for the windshield and front windows, privacy glass for the rear door, rear quarter and rear windscreen, and a rear windscreen with electric heating and defrosting.
If a roof sunshade moves slowly, stops partway or makes a noise, note when it happens and whether the vehicle was parked in strong sun or rain. Do not force the shade by hand. A rattle or a damp patch around the glass should be shown to an authorised BYD dealer rather than treated at home, because sealing and glass fitment are workshop matters.
Doors, handles and tailgate
The vehicle has electronic hidden door handles and a one-touch tailgate. Hidden handles rely on the vehicle’s electronics and its keys, so a handle that does not present itself or a tailgate that does not respond can be linked to the key, the 12V system or a fault. Try the other entry methods described in the owner’s manual, such as the NFC card or the digital key, and record what happened.
Door mirrors are electrically heated and adjustable, electrically retractable and have auto-tilt and position memory. A mirror that fails to move should be checked by a workshop. Auto windows with anti-trap protection are fitted, and a window that reverses or stops by itself should be reported to an authorised BYD dealer.
Seats and cabin comfort
The brochure lists genuine leather-wrapped seats, an 8-way power adjustable driver seat with 4-way lumbar adjustment, leg rest power adjustment and position memory, a 6-way power adjustable passenger seat and ventilated and heated front seats. Heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel are listed for the Performance variant only.
If a seat motor does not move, a heating or ventilation function does not respond or a memory position is not recalled, record the symptom and consult an authorised BYD dealer. Clean leather-wrapped surfaces only with methods that the owner’s manual approves, because some cleaning products can mark trim.
Cargo areas
The SEALION 7 has a rear trunk of 500 L and a front trunk of 58 L, according to the brochure. It also lists a tyre repair kit and tool kit, luggage compartment light and a vice dashboard with dual cup holders. Loading limits and anything related to carrying heavy items are set by the manufacturer, so refer to the official owner’s manual for permitted loads.
A front trunk lid that will not latch, a rear cargo area that smells damp or a light that does not work should be checked by an authorised BYD dealer.
Wipers, mirrors and windows
Rain-sensing frameless wipers, a windscreen washer with wiper and an auto-dimming interior mirror are listed. A wiper that smears or chatters can be linked to a worn blade or a dirty windscreen. Wiper blades are normally treated as wear items under the Warranty and Service Handbook, so ask a dealer about replacement.
Care and warranty notes
The Warranty and Service Handbook excludes normal wear and tear on items such as seat covers, carpets and interior trims, as well as damage from water ingress and unauthorised modifications. Keep receipts and service records, and report defects promptly to an authorised BYD dealer.
Subject to manufacturer specifications, paint application defects are covered for a limited time described in the handbook, so check the paint and trim soon after delivery and speak to the dealer about anything you find.
